Email: lsaguirre@g.ucla.edu

Lupita S. Aguirre was born in Texas and raised in both Mexico and the US. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Biochemistry. She completed a MS in Chemistry at Texas State University with Prof. Christopher P. Rhodes in the field of advanced energy materials. In Fall 2020, she pursued doctoral studies with Prof. Andy A. Thomas as part of his first batch of students at Texas A&M University. Her projects in organic chemistry involved the synthesis of a new class of phosphine-urea ligands, the development of a highly reactive form of Li-metal, and the construction of a new rapid injection device for in situ NMR studies with gas reagents. Lupita then joined the Gutierrez group in Fall 2025 where she is working in the computational analysis of transition metal catalysis. Outside of lab Lupita enjoys spending time with her husband, hiking, and sharing meals with her family and friends.
