Charles Young

Charles Young is an undergraduate research assistant, double majoring in Chemistry and Bioengineering, preparing for a Ph.D. and career in research. Passionate about integrating experimental, computational, and theoretical chemistry with neuroscience and medicine, he is learning to leverage iron-catalyzed radical reactions and transition metal catalysis for drug development, advancing cost-effective, sustainable iron catalysis in pharmaceuticals, particularly for neurodegeneration, neuropsychiatry, and psychedelic research. With licensures and extensive industry experience in clinical research, surgical assistance, anesthetic and neuropsychiatric support, he aims to translate chemical discoveries into biomedical innovations and treatments. Beyond science and technology, he’s been proactively exploring philosophy, religions, cultures, languages, and music, drawn to the intersection of physicality, mentality, spirituality, and creativity.

“We are not atoms randomly scattered in the void. We are chemistry, cognition, and cosmos intertwined. The beauty of the world is best revealed when science, philosophy, and spirituality dance together.” - Unknown
